Update reporting
Project control is successfully effected by
an integral update reporting system. The information reported back comprises
the actual date/usage data, together optionally with the remaining requirements
for individual tasks.
Actual dates consist of the start and end
dates for tasks which have been carried out, and for their assigned resources.
These are used to update the network, and are then taken into account in the
next date scheduling calculations. Actual effort consists, for example, of the
actual hours worked. They can be entered for the assigned resources directly,
as a total, or can be determined from the entry of hours worked by employees.
Interfaces to factory data capture (FDC)
systems can also be used to enter such reports via external systems, for
example using barcodes. If update reports have been submitted, so that actual
dates are available for tasks in the network, the date scheduling routines will
then use these dates in subsequent calculations.
